I'm reminded again for this week's lecture of the evolving nature of our information landscape. All the news reminds me as well. Good news, bad news, new news. Nothing is new.EPIC is food for thoug

This blog is a failure. As a method of getting people to share ideas, blogs can be good. They can be successful. But they need to be 'in the flow' of the work we do. There needs to be a reason for

An interesting development within the Tech-ish groups at Griffith is the proposal for a combined degree in informations systems and business. We (Management in Business) have been collaborating with

Apparently, Doug Morris (truck driver and CEO for Universal music) drove his large truck (the music industry) under a very small bridge (technology, aka the internet). One would think that being in b

One of the feeds I read every night is the latest news straight out of the ABC Top Stories. You can grab an RSS feed here. Interestingly, from a cross cultural perspective, was this story about queuing for a bus. It just goes to show how much we take for granted.

I just came across yet another attempt to define e-learning (or is it eLearning or elearning?) As long as it's not eeeee! Learning!? I suppose we should be feel good. (That big long eeeee is eeeee as in eeeee! mouse, not eeeee as in (wh)eeeeee!) According to what Tony Karrer says here, there are heaps of different definitions and apparently no consensus. I'm not going to add to that.

I've just been reading Vannevar Bush's As we may think from 1945. Actually, it was written in 1945, I'm not in 1945 reading it. But I digress. I'm sure I've read this before, but there was some striking ideas that occurred to me in this reading, most notably our approach to teaching the how of using computers.

This is what happens when you get too busy. There are so many new things, so many ideas burgeoning that it's hard to keep up. That's probably one of the reasons I like wikis for learning - students get to keep me up to date.

I was reading (rereading for the umpteenth time) Grandon Gill's 5 (Really) Hard Things about Using the Internet in Higher Education. It's from eLearn Magazine published early last year. There are some interesting points that I'd like to think about, because I'm sure many of us are overwhelmed by the changes in what we do.

Managing the way we work

Trying to update this blog is sometimes quite frustrating. The restrictions on the ways of inputting information, while to some degree necessary, are almost archaic. Blogs are mostly a Web2.0 phenomena, even though there were around in the early days. Blogs are about interaction, about expression, and yet, the ways in which I interact with this blog are severely restricted.
